Prototype-Overlay Edit script

Prototype-Overlay is yet another script allowing to display arbitrary content in modal or non-modal overlay windows. It was developed with particular purpose in mind so it may or may not work for you. It provides:

fade-in / fade-out animation
transparency
limited vertical positioning: top, center, bottom [*]
hiding after given timeout
hiding with click
some event hooks
multiple windows on a page (but still limited to predefined positions)

It does not provide:

styles for the window
fetching content with ajax [*]
controls for the window

Customisation is possible with a set of options documented in the source file. Tested (somewhat) with FF 2-3.5, IE 6-8, Safari 3, Opera 9.5. Look for examples at the homepage. [*] likely to be added in the future.
